Allowing access to your Camera and Microphone in Firefox (Desktop)

How to enable Camera and Microphone access in Firefox if you are using the Browser/Web based version of Sessions on a desktop.

When you first use Sessions, you will be prompted to allow access to your Camera and Microphone - ensure you select Allow at that moment.

If your camera or microphone is ever blocked:
  1. Select the Camera icon on the left of your search/URL bar.

  2. Click both Xs to Clear this permission and ask again

  3. Refresh the browser tab.

4. When prompted, ensure that the correct camera and microphone are selected, select Remember this decision followed by Allow:

If that didn't resolve the issue:

  1. Select the 3 horizontal lines (menu icon) in upper right corner and select Settings:

  2. Go to Privacy & Security.

  3. Scroll down to Permissions.
  4. In your Camera & Microphone settings, ensure that Allow has been selected for https://sessions.psychologytoday.com.
  5. Also ensure that Block new requests is not selected
  6. Restart Firefox.

Note - If your camera does not load after you have granted permission, you likely have virtual-camera software installed which is known to cause conflicts in browser-based camera use. This software would need to be removed before Sessions will be able to access the correct camera.

A "virtual camera" would list as a "real camera" in your permission page. Examples of these are:

  • Youcam
  • ManyCam
  • OBS
  • Cyberlink webcam splitter
