Mac users: How to enable Camera and Microphone access in Safari
When you first use Sessions, you will be prompted to allow access to your Camera and Microphone - ensure you select Allow at that moment:
If your camera or microphone is ever blocked:
- Refresh Safari
- When you're prompted to allow access, ensure you're hitting Allow
- If you were not prompted, select Safari in the top left of the screen
- Then select Settings>Website>Camera
- Select Allow on member.psychologytoday.com
- Repeat step 3.A under Microphone
- Select Allow on member.psychologytoday.com
If this doesn't resolve the issue, you may also need to grant access in MacOS - Allowing Camera and Microphone access in MacOS
Note - If your camera does not load after you have granted permission, you likely have virtual-camera software installed which is known to cause conflicts in browser-based camera use. This software would need to be removed before Sessions will be able to access the correct camera.
A "virtual camera" would list as a "real camera" in your permission page. Examples of these are:
- Youcam
- ManyCam
- OBS
- Cyberlink webcam splitter
